Academic Success Program
10,000 Degrees Academic Success volunteers tutor students from low-income backgrounds in Marin County public school classrooms. Established in 1997 as Marin County School Volunteers, which merged with 10,000 Degrees in 2017, our volunteers now tutor K-12 students at 19 Marin County schools, providing academic tutoring, classroom support, and homework assistance.
Our Academic Success team has 130+ volunteers providing over 4,000 hours of tutoring to 1,008 students each year. Volunteers support students one-on-one, in small groups, and through differentiated instruction across the classroom. They also provide valued support at other 10,000 Degrees program events such as Money Matters workshops and college essay writing sessions.

Interested in becoming an Academic Success volunteer?
Join a group of dedicated volunteer tutors making a difference in Marin County Schools. Volunteers typically spend two hours a week tutoring students in a classroom setting. While no experience is necessary, volunteers are required to submit fingerprints and proof of a negative TB test before working with students.
