Being a college graduate is so important to me because my parents went through so much for me to gain an education. Attending college has helped me expand my knowledge and connections. Getting an education shows leadership and perseverance because it took a lot for me to graduate in four years. I’m passionate about public health and healthcare, and now I can use my voice to share my thoughts as a leader, representing Latinos and people who are underserved.
The scholarship from 10,000 Degrees was incredibly helpful. I studied abroad in Spain and South Korea, and I don’t think I would have gotten that chance without the scholarship. I never thought studying abroad was possible because of the high cost. But with the scholarship, I was able to reduce the financial burden and make friendships with people from around the world.
I want to make social change that helps the overall health and well-being of people, being a proud Latina, and serving the generation before me who worked so hard for me to be where I am right now.
