One of the biggest obstacles I faced while pursuing my college degree was my limited background in technology. As an immigrant, I didn’t grow up with access to many of the tools and resources that many of my peers were familiar with, so I had to work twice as hard to catch up. Classes that required programming or technical skills were especially challenging at first, but I was determined to push through.
Another major challenge was the difficulty of the coursework itself. Many of the classes were incredibly demanding, and balancing school with personal responsibilities wasn’t easy. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, but my love for my family, especially my parents, and the support of my partner kept me going. They reminded me why I started this journey in the first place.
Despite these challenges, I stayed committed, put in the extra effort, and sought help whenever I needed it. Looking back, every struggle was worth it because it made earning my degree even more meaningful.
My involvement with 10,000 Degrees was a game changer during my college journey. As an immigrant student navigating higher education, I faced a lot of challenges, from understanding financial aid to managing the demands of rigorous coursework. 10,000 Degrees provided not just financial support but also mentorship and guidance that helped me stay on track.
One of the biggest ways they helped was by giving me the confidence to push through tough times. There were moments when I felt like giving up whether it was struggling in a difficult class or feeling like I didn’t belong in a tech-heavy field but having a support system that believed in me made all the difference.
Through their resources and encouragement, I was able to focus on my studies, develop my skills, and eventually earn my degree. More than anything, their support reminded me that I wasn’t alone in this journey and that my dreams were within reach, no matter how difficult the path seemed.

In a way, my journey showed them that with persistence, no matter where you start, you can push through and achieve your goals.
I want to change the world by inspiring others especially those who come from immigrant backgrounds or face challenges in education to believe in themselves and push through obstacles. Whether it’s through technology, mentorship, or simply leading by example, I want to show that with hard work and perseverance, success is possible for anyone.
