One of the biggest obstacles I faced in college was finding courses that truly fit my interests and career goals. The 10,000 Degrees community and my advisor have been enthusiastically supporting me throughout my entire college journey. Attending college has brought me irreplaceable friends and a supportive community.
Getting an education and becoming a college graduate is incredibly important to me. As a design student, I believe it’s about more than just my courses; it’s about the community at Davis and the people I’m connecting with. Having connections with developers and product managers is worth more than just my education. Even during my classes, I really enjoy connecting with my professors and learning about industry standards—it’s really nice, and I enjoy that.
All the check-ins that 10,000 Degrees does are so helpful. Anytime I needed assistance, whether it was navigating campus life as a transfer student or just quickly becoming part of the community, the support provided was incredibly valuable. My Fellow, Vicky, was especially helpful in helping me quickly dive into campus life.
I don’t think I would have pursued a design degree if it wasn’t for the support of 10,000 Degrees. Design isn’t a typical STEM major, so it can feel a bit under the radar. But everyone, especially the advisors, was incredibly supportive of what I’m passionate about and what I want to do with my future and career.
