My college journey started with a big obstacle: the pandemic. My plan for San Jose State fell through because of the expense of online classes. That’s when 10,000 Degrees became a huge help. They guided me with campus resources, internships, and even helped me with scholarship essays.
As a first-generation college student, the impact on my family has been big. Getting this education is so important to me because it’s important to my mom, it’s important to my brother and my dad, who didn’t get to go to college. They told me that it’s good for you to educate yourself, to be prepared for gaining a career that pays you well and will sustain you for the future.
Thanks to 10,000 Degrees, transferring to SF State and getting an education in an affordable way became possible—something I truly thought was out of reach.
