When I started pursuing my college degree, I faced a lot of challenges, especially with financing, navigating college applications, and figuring out college life. My involvement with 10,000 Degrees has been incredibly helpful. My mentor was always there to offer support. I really enjoyed the one-on-one calls with my Fellow; she was friendly and helped me stay on track throughout my college journey.
Attending college has definitely unlocked doors for my career. It has also given my younger cousins and siblings a role model to look up to. I want to change the world by inspiring young generations to be more connected with others.
Being a first-generation Chinese American, my family is incredibly important to me. Getting a college education not only helps unlock my passions, but it also allows me to do more and succeed.
The quarterly check-ins with my Fellow were super helpful. There were days when I was really stressed and some quarters where I was busier than usual. She helped me kind of ground myself and really align with my values and passions.
The scholarship from 10,000 Degrees was a big help in financing college. The alumni and community that 10,000 Degrees offers and provides is super helpful, especially when you’re going into college as a first-generation student.
