My time at College of Marin was a rollercoaster of emotions. My second year, I went through a really tough time after an old friend passed away. I completely lost my motivation, and it started affecting my grades. Thankfully, I found people on campus who helped me get back on track, and now I’m transferring this fall!
10,000 Degrees has helped me so much throughout my time at College of Marin and even helped me with the application for Sac State. Even back in high school, just learning about 10,000 Degrees and the incredible support they offer students was amazing.
As a first-generation student, I know my journey is positively impacting my parents. I’m the same age they were when I was born, and I want to be successful to show them their hard work wasn’t for nothing. My mom actually went to College of Marin before she had me, but she couldn’t finish her degree. It’s so important for me to show her that even though she couldn’t do it, I can.
I hope to one day help people, whether it’s financially or mentally. With how cruel the world can be now, I would love to help others, no matter the problem.
When I first applied to 10,000 Degrees and didn’t get in, it was really hard and made me lose a lot of motivation. But Heidi, the main person I was speaking with, helped me so much. She doesn’t even know how much she helped me get the motivation I didn’t have.
