Completing community college online and then commuting to UC Davis made it hard to make lasting connections. But through 10,000 Degrees, especially the SRA program and Mission Bit, I got to acknowledge the vast college and career opportunities there are. I also learned to seek new opportunities, received tips and tricks to succeed, and used the SRA hub for everything from resume revision to interview prep, which helped me become more than a student, but a professional.
10,000 Degrees has been a huge relief for my family, easing their stress about me commuting, succeeding in college, and navigating my responsibilities. Getting an education and graduating is so important because it proves that I showed up for myself, despite all the challenges. 10,000 Degrees showed me that I do have a right to know all the resources, and it taught me how to evolve from my high school self and be more mindful of the growth I’ve made. I want to change the world by making opportunities more accessible, especially to minority and diverse groups, and inspiring people to seek their best potential.
