The Olivia Beltran Scholarship, administered by 10,000 Degrees, aims to support a student dedicated to dismantling systems of oppression within their community and beyond. The ideal candidate will be a student who is passionate about continuing Olivia’s legacy of transformative change—a student who is pursuing a college education and who demonstrates a passion for volunteering and social activism in their community.

About Olivia Beltran

Olivia will always be remembered as a powerful advocate for her community, a catalyst for change, and a devoted mother. Her work spanned a wide range of issues, including civil rights, environmental sustainability, Indigenous rights, affordable housing, LGBTQ+ rights, workers’ rights, women’s rights, and mental health, among many others. Olivia received numerous accolades at the city, county, and state levels in recognition of her tireless efforts.

Guided by the core values of integrity, service, and courage, Olivia dedicated herself to uniting people in the pursuit of essential rights and resources for their community. She recognized the transformative power of solidarity and was unafraid to confront formidable challenges on behalf of those who were marginalized. Olivia believed in the importance of building connections across diverse groups, consistently organizing youth, parents, and elders to uplift one another’s strengths.

She championed the inherent worth of every individual, advocating for the belief that everyone deserves a fulfilling life and the chance to pursue their dreams—regardless of socioeconomic background, legal status, gender, religious belief, or race. Olivia was particularly passionate about expanding access to higher education for marginalized youth, inspiring countless young people to aspire to professional and academic excellence, encouraging them to overcome imposter syndrome and embrace their unique contributions.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Are enrolled or enrolling in an accredited college or trade program at least part time.
  • Demonstrated financial need.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice.

Scholarship Program Information

  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Individual awards are up to $1,500 per year, renewable up to 6 years.
  • All scholarship recipients receive:
    • Support from our trained Fellows, who provide ongoing mentorship on campus or virtually during their entire college journey.
    • The opportunity to participate in our Career and Alumni Success program, which provide career mentorship, an informational newsletter, internship opportunities, networking events, and more.

The priority deadline for the 10,000 Degrees Scholarship application for the 2025-26 school year is March 3, 2025.
