10,000 Degrees and CTE Foundation Announce Formal Partnership to Support Students’ Higher Education and Career Pathways
10,000 Degrees and Career Technical Education (CTE) Foundation are excited to announce their formal partnership to support students enrolled in a two-year career readiness program. This partnership builds on the two organizations’ long-standing collaboration and shared mission of supporting student success in pursuit of higher education and careers.
Sonoma Corps is a CTE Foundation program consisting of a career prep class during students’ high school senior year, followed by a paid year-long internship upon graduation, and scholarship awards for students to continue their education/training post-internship. Through this partnership, 10,000 Degrees will support Sonoma Corps students through a peer-supported model of mentorship and will provide scholarship funding upon completion of the program. The Sonoma Corps partners hope to connect as many as 100 local students to paid internships and post-secondary funding through this model over the next several years.
“Partnering with 10,000 Degrees allows us to further provide our Sonoma Corps students with the tools they need to succeed in their chosen career paths,” says CTE Foundation CEO Kathy Goodacre. “We are proud to work with 10,000 Degrees to offer our students not only the financial support they need to continue their education, but also the wraparound services that will help them navigate the college experience and achieve their goals. We are excited to see the positive impact this partnership will have on our community.”
10,000 Degrees is an organization dedicated to empowering students to enter and graduate college in Sonoma County and seven other Bay Area counties. By using near-peer support in high school and into college, 10,000 Degrees champions a college persistence model with high success rates for the students that it supports. CTE Foundation works to expand and enhance career-connected learning in Sonoma County, investing in innovative local programs to significantly improve overall student success and achievement.
“Thanks to our partnership with the CTE Foundation, we can support more Sonoma County students from diverse backgrounds than ever before,” says Eli Weinzveg, 10,000 Degrees Director of College Pathways. “Our alliance has opened the doors for Sonoma Corps students to gain access to higher education and career pathways by ensuring that these students can continue their education throughout their internships and beyond. We are so thrilled to be able to collaborate with the CTE Foundation to continue opening more and more doors for local students!”
