Hoop for Change: Free-Throw Shoot-A-Thon Fundraiser in Lafayette and at Newly Opened 600 Indiana in SF

** MEDIA ADVISORY **

Local Students and Community Members Invited to Free 10,000 Degrees
‘Hoop for Change: Free-Throw Shoot-A-Thon’ Fundraiser in Lafayette and at Newly Opened 600 Indiana in San Francisco

LAFAYETTE and SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—On Saturday, November 8, 10,000 Degrees will host its second annual ‘Hoop for Change’ fundraiser in both San Francisco and Lafayette.  The San Francisco event will take place at 600 Indiana, a new basketball training gym operated by Kenny Hatch Basketball. In Lafayette, the fundraiser will take place at Acalanes High School and will mark the program’s first high school-only ‘Hoop for Change’ event. Co-hosted by the Acalanes High School’s boys and girls basketball teams, over 100 students are expected to participate at the Lafayette event, including student teams from Miramonte, Northgate, and College Park High Schools.

Kicking off the 2025–2026 high school basketball season, the community-wide ‘Hoop for Change’ invites players to collect pledges and donations for every free-throw made, with all proceeds supporting 10,000 Degrees programs that help students from low-income backgrounds get to and through college. ‘Hoop for Change’ showcases how local student-athletes are turning their passion for basketball into a positive impact beyond the court for educational equity.

Local students and community members will participate in a free-throw shoot-a-thon and have a chance to win prizes such as a PlayStation 5, tickets to upcoming Golden State Warriors games and more.

10,000 Degrees started ‘Hoop for Change’ in 2024. Last year, the fundraising event took place in three locations – Walnut Creek, San Rafael and Santa Rosa – and had over 80 participants ranging from 3rd graders to adults who shot free-throws and took photos with Golden State Warriors alum, Zaza Pachulia, who made a guest appearance. The event raised over $43,000 for 10,000 Degrees students from low-income backgrounds last year—and has already raised double that amount this year with two more events to go.
