My name is Juan Luis Mercado Trujillo, and I am a dreamer, an educator, and someone who cares deeply about my community. For more than 10 years, I have worked in college access and student success programs, helping first-generation college students achieve their educational goals. Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to receive support, guidance, and opportunities from many people in my community. Because of that, I feel a strong responsibility to give back and help others create opportunities for themselves and their families. My goal is to support students in reaching their full potential and achieving dreams they may not have thought were possible.
As a Program Coordinator at the College of Marin, I have had the chance to work with many students and families across Marin County. Whether it is helping high school students enroll in college classes through dual enrollment, connecting community members with ESL courses, or sharing information about available resources, I enjoy helping people take the next step toward their goals. Although much of our work begins with students in local high schools, the impact goes far beyond the students themselves. When one person gains access to education, it can positively affect their family, friends, and community. Being able to play a small part in that process is what inspires me to continue doing this work every day.
