Marco Reyes is a proud first-generation college graduate who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Movement Studies and a minor in Nutrition from California State University, Chico in 2022.
Growing up in a low-income family, navigating the path to college often felt unfamiliar and uncertain. 10,000 Degrees played an important role in helping Marco see the potential in himself to pursue higher education. Through a scholarship, guidance with college applications, FAFSA and scholarship applications, and participation in the Summer Intensive, he gained the knowledge, confidence, and support to better understand college life and ultimately earn his degree.
Today, Marco works at Santa Rosa Junior College in the Disability Resources Department, where he supports students with disabilities and helps coordinate services that promote accessibility and academic success. As a bilingual English and Spanish speaker, he is passionate about helping students from diverse backgrounds navigate higher education and overcome barriers.
Marco hopes to continue growing in higher education and give students the same sense of possibility that 10,000 Degrees once helped him discover in himself.
