I grew up undocumented in the tenderloin in San Francisco where I experienced first hand the limitations of the health care system. These experiences motivated me to pursue a career in medicine. I am now proud to be working as a physician at a hospital that allows me to serve the community that raised me, always working to advance community health through my research focused on mitigating health disparities. 10,000 Degrees (Meritus at the time), provided me with financial support that allowed me to pursue higher education, and mentors that have now become life-long friends.
