When we first learned about 10,000 Degrees, we were blown away by their legacy. Over the past 40+ years, they have helped more than 60,000 students graduate from college. The scale of their impact is immense, affecting not just students but their families, incomes, and overall well being. Education is critical to making these things possible. 10,000 Degrees provides opportunities that help level the playing field. Students still face a tremendous amount of challenges—they must succeed in school and launch their careers—but 10,000 Degrees gives them support they need in navigating these challenges.
I joined the Peninsula-South Bay Advisory Board because 10,000 Degrees is one of the most impactful nonprofits I’ve encountered. We’re also strong believers in education, and know that there are pockets of Silicon Valley where students feel college is out of reach due to wealth disparities. 10,000 Degrees engages students at the local level by placing Fellows right on campus to help students apply for and secure funding, helping students to realize that college is accessible and possible for them.
One of the things I love about 10,000 Degrees is meeting some of the incredible students you’re helping to impact. We are excited to be a part of this effort to drive change and create opportunities for the students here in Silicon Valley that need it the most.
