Pursuing a college degree was no easy feat, facing financial barriers, academic pressure, imposter syndrome in my STEM courses, and mental exhaustion. My education is for my mom and her sacrifices; I want to be her financial pillar. As a first-generation student, 10,000 Degrees provided a welcoming environment and unwavering support, helping me navigate financial aid and stay focused. Attending college as a first-generation Latina has paved the way towards opportunities to attain my family’s American Dream. I am ONE Degree of Change because of my culture, family, and community, challenging the status quo to transform my family’s dream into a reality.
