“Pursuing a college degree as a first-generation immigrant student comes with many unexpected challenges. A few that I faced in my four years of higher education were balancing school and personal time, letting myself enjoy things that I would normally feel guilty about, and learning how to acknowledge all the work I have accomplished.
From high school to my last year of college, 10,000 Degrees taught me everything about college, from connecting me to higher education resources to finding community on my campus.
The impact that my higher education experience has had on my family and friends is amazing. I have motivated many people to pursue something bigger than themselves and to realize that anything is possible.
I want to help others in multiple ways. For the past two years, I have helped students with resources and advice through my job at the Transfer Opportunity Program as a Student Outreach Ambassador at Davis. Now, I am excited to continue supporting students through my new role as a Career Success Coordinator at 10,000 Degrees. Working for 10,000 Degrees is an amazing opportunity to me, and I am proud to be working for the organization that helped me for so many years.”
