We’re taking a stand against the anti-college rhetoric.
Every few days, someone asks me, “Don’t we need more plumbers, builders, and electricians? Don’t you support the trades and apprenticeships?” Of course, these careers are valuable. Yet framing the conversation as “college versus trades” limits how we see our students’ potential. Our students are seeking careers in healthcare, engineering, education, business, technology, the arts, and many other fields that reflect their interests and talents. Our responsibility is to expand their opportunities—not narrow them.
At a time when many are questioning the value of college, 10,000 Degrees is taking a clear stand. The data—and the experiences of our students and alumni—show that a degree remains the most dependable pathway to long-term financial stability, economic mobility, and personal well-being. A degree breaks the cycle of generational poverty.
While rising costs, financial aid changes, and an evolving job market have raised valid concerns about access and affordability, college doesn’t have to come with debt. With the right tools, guidance, and support, students can find affordable college pathways, access financial aid and scholarships, and make informed decisions about their education and futures.
