Every day after elementary school, Brian soaked up the enthusiasm Steve Irwin exuded, imagining himself experiencing wildlife with him. Irwin’s TV show, “The Crocodile Hunter,” was Brian’s window to nature growing up in California.
Decades later, Brian carried Steve’s passion to each tour he led as a naturalist, exploring the waters of Monterey Bay for large charismatic megafauna or joining National Geographic Lindblad Expeditions in Alaska. Brian saw his childhood self in audience members whose eyes grew wide when he shared information about the animals they saw, such as the fact that blue whales slow their hearts to four beats per minute during deep dives. By sharing these scientific scoops, Brian discovered his passion for communicating science to people worldwide.
With every photo and every word, Brian wants to bring you on an adventure into the natural world, and with his background doing research in the Monterey Bay and with a Master’s in Science Communications, he can do that. He wants to make you feel as though we’re experiencing nature together — just as Brian did with Steve Irwin when he was young.
