Jorge Hernandez is an experienced marketing professional with six years in financial services, and has been part of the 10,000 Degrees community since receiving a scholarship as an undergraduate in 2016.
He credits his upbringing to his close-knit family and Marin nonprofits that shaped and guided him toward higher education. From a young age, circumstance demanded that he navigate the financial aid system and develop strong money management skills during college, an experience that shaped his career path. After graduating, he brought that lived experience to a regional bank, supporting the marketing of banking and lending programs designed to expand access for historically excluded communities.
Supporting access for underserved communities isn’t his only passion; he’s equally invested in ensuring the next generation can access the same doors once opened for him, and in building inclusive workplace cultures. From leading a mentorship program connecting 10,000 Degrees college students with Wealth Management professionals, to building employee resource groups at a former employer, to now serving as a Board Member of Youth Transforming Justice, he’s committed to ensuring both the next generation and those around him feel supported.
For him, success has always meant, and continues to mean, reaching back to bring others forward.
